UHY is seeking experienced Controllers to support project-based, interim client engagements in Miami and throughout Florida. Specific engagement duration and onsite, hybrid, or remote work expectations will vary by client need; consultants should be prepared to integrate quickly and provide hands‑on leadership and execution in complex accounting environments.

The Controller will step into client environments that need experienced accounting support across the close, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, audit readiness, and process improvement. Project scopes may include close stabilization, accounting cleanup, reporting remediation, interim controllership, ERP or transaction‑related change, and other time‑sensitive priorities. This is a hands‑on role for a senior professional who can assess issues quickly, establish a practical work plan, and personally execute critical accounting work while coordinating effectively with client leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.

• Own and execute critical components of the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close, including journal entries, account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidations, and supporting schedules.
• Assess close‑process gaps, aged reconciliations, unsupported balances, and other accounting issues; prioritize and resolve items that affect reporting accuracy or timeliness.
• Prepare and review U.S. GAAP financial statements, management reporting, flux analyses, and other recurring or project‑specific financial reporting deliverables.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, close documentation, and audit readiness; support SOX, external audit, lender, board, or other reporting requirements when applicable to the engagement.
• Provide hands‑on support across complex accounting areas such as intercompany activity, revenue, leases, fixed assets, accruals, working capital, or other balance sheet and income statement accounts as client needs require.
• Partner with CFOs, CAOs, accounting leaders, FP&A, tax, treasury, auditors, systems teams, and operating stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Support finance transformation, ERP implementations or remediation, acquisition integration, carve‑out activity, or other change initiatives by maintaining accounting continuity and validating financial data.
• Improve recurring accounting workflows, document procedures and key judgments, and transfer sustainable processes and work products to the client team at the conclusion of the engagement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with substantial hands‑on responsibility for close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and controllership‑level work.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, multi‑entity, or changing accounting environments.
• CPA certification preferred.
