Accountant 1 | Pierce County The Tone:
This is a hybrid position with Pierce County, located in Washington, United States, offering 2 or 3 days of remote work weekly based on business needs. The county provides vital administrative services through the Office of the Superior Court Clerk, maintaining records for all Superior Court cases. This role directly supports the Clerk’s Office financial operations, allowing you to apply your accounting knowledge to initiatives that directly affect the community, helping residents navigate challenging times.

Office of the Superior Court Clerk - Mission:
Manages financial operations and accounting functions to support the Superior Court Clerk’s vital administrative services. - Tech Stack:
Financial systems, Excel, accounting systems, spreadsheets
- Report Preparation:
Prepare and audit various reports for school districts, cities, towns, and the state, acting as a liaison with internal and external individuals. - Investment Management:
Plan, organize, and report revenue and investment activities, including directing the preparation of investment purchases, maturities, and exchanges. - Operational Oversight:
Oversee the work of technical and clerical support personnel engaged in accounting, cash management, and investment activities, along with operating and inputting various systems. - Financial Processing:
Process receipts and disbursements of funds, such as payment of warrants, loans, and bonds, and reconcile a variety of accounts. - System Improvement:
Review and analyze accounting systems to recommend modifications that improve procedures and ensure conformity to policy and accounting principles.
- Background: A four-year college or university degree with major coursework in accounting or a related field.
- Experience:
One or more years of professional accounting experience. Washington State Certification as a Certified Public Accountant may substitute for both education and experience requirements. - Skills:
Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong Excel and computer proficiency, excellent communication and writing skills, organizational and detail-oriented approach.
