About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Reviewer to serve as the final technical checkpoint before tax returns reach partner or manager-level approval. This position is responsible for conducting detailed reviews of complex federal and state tax returns, identifying material issues, validating data integrity, and providing guidance to preparers to improve overall quality and efficiency. This role is ideal for a tax professional with strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to balance accuracy with productivity.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed technical reviews of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Evaluate tax filings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to final approval.
- Apply professional judgment to distinguish material issues from minor discrepancies, ensuring an efficient review process.
- Verify that Quick Books Online financial data reconciles appropriately with Schedule L reporting.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding tax return details and complex tax matters.
- Identify recurring preparation issues and provide feedback, coaching, and training to tax staff members.
- Stay informed of federal and state tax law updates and regulatory changes.
- Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
- 8+ years of tax preparation experience, including at least 2 years in a dedicated tax review role.
- Strong experience reviewing returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofit entities.
- Advanced proficiency with CCH Axcess and Quick Books Online.
- Comprehensive understanding of bookkeeping, financial statements, and Schedule L reconciliation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical tax matters directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Technical expertise in tax review and preparation.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to balance productivity with quality.
- Experience with automation in tax processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory changes in tax law.
Competitive salary: $95,000 - $105,000 annually.

Location:
Remote (United States) Compensation: $95,000 - $105,000 base salary.
