Intermediate Accountant

Description We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to support core accounting activities for a multi-entity organization in Calabasas, California. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing receivables and payables, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on accounting experience, communicates well with external partners, and is comfortable managing priorities with minimal supervision in a remote work setting.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee incoming and outgoing financial transactions across three operating entities, ensuring timely processing and accurate documentation.

- Investigate billing, remittance, and payment variances by working directly with customers to resolve account issues efficiently.

- Communicate with vendors, clients, and independent contractors regarding payment status, account questions, and transaction details.

- Prepare and execute recurring payment cycles, including monthly check runs, while keeping vendor files and disbursement records current.

- Record customer deposits and monitor vendor spending to support accurate cash and expense tracking.

- Assist with payroll-related support tasks and provide general accounting administration as needed.

- Maintain complete and organized accounting data in Quick Books Online, including transaction entry and record updates.

- Perform reconciliations for accounts and bank activity, post journal entries, and support general ledger accuracy.

- Partner with internal teams to help sustain efficient business operations and consistent financial reporting.

- Contribute to accounting support for a growing organization that operates across multiple entities and service lines. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, staff accounting, or a closely related accounting role.

- Demonstrated background handling both accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.

- Proficiency with Quick Books Online in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.

- Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.

- Experience completing bank reconciliations and using Excel formulas for day-to-day accounting tasks.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and resolve transactional discrepancies accurately.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage responsibilities with limited oversight.
