Staff Accountant

Location: Hanover, MD (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote (Remote Days: Monday & Friday)
Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000

We are partnering with an organization to identify a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced finance leadership while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a dynamic business environment.

The accounting team is currently lean and highly collaborative, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, taking ownership of their work, and contributing across the accounting function.

Following an initial onsite training period, the position offers a hybrid schedule with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

• Prepare and record journal entries, including payroll-related entries and monthly accruals
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
• Support the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules
• Serve as a backup resource for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with audit preparation and support requests from external auditors
• Ensure accounting records comply with company policies and accounting standards
• Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and CFO on special projects and process improvements
• Maintain accurate documentation and support schedules for accounting activities

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working within consumer products, retail, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, apparel, athletic wear, or similar industries
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, fixed assets, and month-end close processes
• Experience working with large ERP systems such as Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment
• Strong communication skills and professional maturity

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• Experience supporting payroll accounting activities
• Experience working in a growing or multi-channel consumer products business
