Position Overview
697 Sell is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Remote Payroll Assistant to support payroll processing and maintain accurate employee compensation records. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with confidential information, meeting deadlines, and handling payroll-related administrative tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing weekly, biweekly, or monthly payroll.
- Review employee timesheets, attendance records, and payroll information for accuracy.
- Enter and maintain employee payroll data in payroll systems.
- Assist with calculating regular hours, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and other adjustments.
- Verify payroll records and identify discrepancies before processing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee compensation records.
- Assist with employee questions regarding pay, deductions, timesheets, and payroll documentation.
- Prepare payroll reports and maintain organized payroll documentation.
- Coordinate with HR and management regarding employee status changes, new hires, and terminations.
- Assist with tax, benefit, and payroll-related documentation as directed.
- Follow company payroll procedures and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Protect sensitive employee and financial information at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional accounting or payroll education is a plus.
- Previous payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, HR, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to learn and navigate payroll and timekeeping software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Work Environment
This is a full-time remote position. The Payroll Assistant will work independently while collaborating with HR, management, and other internal teams through email, messaging platforms, video meetings, and cloud-based systems.
