Role Description

The Senior Tax Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lake Oswego, OR, with flexibility for some work from home. This role oversees complex tax engagements, including review of primarily corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returns, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. The Senior Tax Manager leads tax planning initiatives for clients, identifies tax-saving opportunities, and advises on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and mentoring tax staff, coordinating workflow and deadlines, communicating directly with clients, and resolving tax issues with authorities when needed. The role also contributes to business development by building client relationships, participating in proposals, and supporting firm-wide initiatives to improve processes and service quality.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax planning and tax compliance, with the ability to design and implement effective tax strategies for diverse clients.
  • Strong skills in tax preparation and application of tax law, including the review of complex returns and guidance on intricate tax matters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply evolving tax rules.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Enrolled Agent (EA) required
  • Significant public accounting experience in a tax-focused leadership role, including staff supervision and engagement management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to explain complex tax issues in clear, practical terms.
  • Proficiency with tax and accounting software, and comfort working in a hybrid environment with collaborative tools and technology.
