Position Overview:

They are currently seeking an ambitious Tax Supervisor with strong technical expertise and leadership potential to join their growing tax practice.

Positioned between senior staff and engagement managers/partners, the Tax Supervisor plays a pivotal role in managing client relationships, reviewing complex tax returns, and mentoring junior team members. This position is ideal for a licensed CPA with deep knowledge of multi-state taxation and internal revenue codes who is ready to step into a key leadership role within a dynamic firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute multiple client tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality work product.
  • Review complex federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
  • Conduct advanced tax research using tools such as Thomson Reuters Checkpoint to address complex Internal Revenue Code (IRC) sections and compliance issues.
  • Mentor, and support the professional development of tax staff and interns.
  • Delegate project responsibilities, monitor workflow, and perform real-time reviews of staff tax returns.
  • Assist management in staff performance evaluations, training programs, and practice development initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for key client accounts, building long-term trust through clear technical communication and client service.
  • Identify client needs and consulting opportunities to support firm growth and practice development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recent accounting pronouncements, regulatory changes, and evolving tax laws.
Qualifications:
  • Active NYS Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing engagements and supervising, coaching, or training junior staff.
  • Working knowledge of CCH Pro System fx Tax software and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint
  • Proficiency in Quick Books, depreciation, and tax planning software is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and internal teams.
