Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program - Underwriting Associate - Atlanta, GA (Summer 2026)
Zurich North America’s Apprentice Program invites applicants to join the 2026 cohort, launching in early Summer 2026 (June 16th – July 20th). The program offers a two‑year pathway that integrates virtual coursework at Harper Community College with hands‑on rotations in our Atlanta office, giving participants a first‑time associate degree and a solid foundation for a career in commercial insurance.
Responsibilities- Service accounts through the end‑to‑end process.
- Access and evaluate underwriting processes while implementing best practices.
- Follow instructions from underwriters for policy rating and pricing.
- Review the application of mandatory policy forms in relation to accounts.
- Resolve inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal customers.
The apprenticeship combines targeted virtual courses at Harper Community College with professional experience in Zurich’s Atlanta office. The ideal candidate seeks a first‑time associate degree and has minimal college credits.
- Upon successful completion:
Paid, benefit‑eligible full‑time position at Zurich
. - Work schedule:
M/W/F, School T/Th, 40 hours/week. - Earn a tuition‑free Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Insurance (virtually at Harper College).
- Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship.
- Develop credentials and skills for today’s evolving marketplace.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Professional work experience not required.
- Must be enrolled and validated as college‑ready by Harper Community College Admissions (separate application process).
- 1+ years of work experience and/or leadership role in student activities and/or significant voluntary community service.
- Interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities between work and school deadlines.
- Strong customer service, collaboration, problem‑solving, communication, self‑discipline, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, especially Excel.
- Comfort navigating learning and interactions in an online environment.
Hourly rate: $19.24. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility: 5%. Geographic differentials are not factored into the posted rate.
