The Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) is a state agency within the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS). Its mandate is to set the police training standards for all law‑enforcement officers certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) and to develop, deliver, and maintain a record of training for over 23,000 police officers, deputy sheriffs, harbormasters, constables, and other statutory personnel across the Commonwealth.
As an Applied Training Facility Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for scheduling personnel and facility needs for the Marlborough Range and Defensive Tactics gym, reporting to the Range Manager/Supervisor to ensure seamless operation of the MPTC Applied Training Facility.
Responsibilities- Coordinate all MPTC training at the applied training facility.
- Create classes in the MPTC training database, Acadis.
- Schedule use of the MPTC Range, Defensive Tactics Gym, and other applied training resources; schedule instructors and range safety officers for all training utilizing the MPTC firearms range.
- Confirm with incoming leads, departments, or instructor trainers that certified MPTC instructors are assigned to each program utilizing the facility.
- Coordinate with the State‑wide Firearms Coordinator, State‑wide Defensive Tactics and Use of Force Coordinator on the scheduling of specialized training programs and upcoming classes.
- Prepare for upcoming classes by identifying lesson plans and slide decks, communicating with attendees regarding scheduling, and distributing necessary materials. Act as the point of contact for class attendees.
- Develop and administer evaluation surveys at the completion of a class, analyze the data collected, and compile data into associated reports.
- Set up classrooms and create signage, nametags, and rosters for each class.
- Maintain the training calendar for the applied training facility and notify the Range Manager and Range Specialist/Supervisor of any conflicts or issues.
- Update the MPTC database, Acadis, with information regarding completed classes to ensure accurate training records for attendees and departments.
- Notify departments and other agencies of available trainings and seek out the training needs of departments.
- Create usage surveys to assess the needs of law‑enforcement agencies.
- Partner with Operations and Facilities on the upkeep and maintenance of the firearms range and defensive tactics gym.
- Manage range supply inventory, including partnering with the Fiscal Team to procure and order supplies, implementing inventory control methods, and managing storage areas.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Primary work will be on‑site, with limited remote work available.
- Strong administrative, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of firearms and safety protocol.
- Current Massachusetts License to Carry (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with Massachusetts firearms law.
- Experience in facility and personnel management, event planning, and coordination.
- Background in business administration or a related field.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, kneel for extended periods and to be exposed to loud sounds.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lb.
- Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to respond to immediate threats, injuries, or incidents on the range.
- Flexibility to work primarily days or evenings and occasional weekends.
- Sound judgment and good decision‑making ability.
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
