The Clinical Program manager provides administrative management and paralegal support to our Clinical Law Program. Our Clinical Program is a working law office within the law school that is directed by five full‑time faculty members who regularly engage in the practice of law in their various practice areas and are recognized as experts in their fields. Each semester the clinic enrolls approximately forty law students to work on legal matters.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring effective case management, high‑quality client representation, and smooth clinic operations while supporting the Clinical Program’s educational mission.

Job Duties and Tasks:- Reviews and files pleadings in state, federal, and appellate courts, including electronic filing.
- Organizes, maintains, and manages case files (electronic and physical), and monitors case activity.
- Gathers information about prospective clients, screens, and coordinates intake process for prospective clients.
- Creates travel arrangements for clinic students and faculty related to clinic cases and professional development, including reserving university vehicles, and working with travel agency to reserve travel. Submits reimbursement requests upon completion of trips.
- Assists with onboarding and transition of students and cases between academic semesters.
- Provides administrative support for courses taught by clinical faculty outside the clinic, including preparation of class materials, anonymizing assignments, maintaining ICON sites, proctoring exams, and submitting grades.
- Supports billing, time entry, and expense tracking as needed, and maintains clinic budget.
- Serves as an administrative point of contact for law school employees, students, and community members, and responds to all inquiries from these constituencies.
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Required Qualifications:- Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- A minimum of one year of experience working as a legal office assistant, paralegal, and/or other related experience.
- Handle sensitive information and use discretion in obtaining and releasing confidential information.
- Follow through on assignments, multi‑task with minimal supervision and be highly responsive in a deadline‑oriented environment.
- Manage concurrent objectives and activities, proactively making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Work and communicate effectively with a population of varying perspectives, such as prospective and current clients (on phone, in person and in writing), students, faculty, staff, administrators, and/or external contacts in the legal community such as judges, attorneys, and clerks of court.
- Communicate calmly and effectively with individuals in distress, including prospective and current clients or members of the public.
- Edit and coordinate various forms of precise correspondence/communication with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Use computer software applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.
