Job Description & How to Apply Below

As our Administrative and Communications Assistant, you will have an opportunity to support the operations and communications needs within the Information Technology and Business Affairs offices at the University of Alaska Southeast. This role is critical to help shape and expand the visibility of our services to our community through effective communication strategies and campaigns. The successful candidate will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are at the front of helping our students succeed through the effective operations and support of institutional data and technology.

The role will be involved in general office tasks, purchasing and budget support, as well as the freedom to develop an effective communications strategy for our customers. This position is newly defined to help our students and employees thrive with this role specifically tasked with managing newsletters, general and special announcements, as well as the organization and creation of materials that help our community succeed through knowledge of what we do and provide.

You will be joining a group of peers who are committed to developing your abilities in an environment that strongly supports diversity. We commit to a healthy work life balance in working hard during our business hours of 8-5 so that we may enjoy time away from our work with the ability to disconnect and enjoy all that Juneau has to offer.

The successful applicant will have experience with office applications as well as familiarity with purchasing and budget principles. Additionally, the ability to effectively maintain guidelines, helpful tips and tricks, and manage our communication tools and strategies for our campus community is critical. In this role, it is important that the applicant be comfortable with having autonomy to make this role an increasingly important partner in serving our students and employees.

Varying perspectives and opinions on how to improve customer service and processes within our department is important to express in joining our open-minded teams focused on a growth mindset. While comprehensive backgrounds in customer service, communications, and purchasing/budget experiences are strongly beneficial, the best candidate will display the ability and desire to make our departments a stronger part of our community.
