Afghan Language Services (ALS) is offering a unique 3-month, unpaid internship opportunity for a competent and motivated individual to serve as a remote Executive Assistant to our CEO. This role is designed for a skilled and innovative candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is eager to gain hands‑on experience in high-level business operations. The intern will work directly with the CEO on a variety of tasks, providing crucial support in communication, strategy, and daily administration.
Upon successful completion of the 3-month internship, outstanding performers will be evaluated for promotion to a paid Assistant position within the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage and prioritize the CEO’s calendar, scheduling meetings and managing appointments using Microsoft Outlook.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the CEO, expertly filtering and managing a high volume of internal and external communications via email and Microsoft Teams.
- Draft, edit, and prepare high-level correspondence, presentations, reports, and other documents with exceptional writing skills and attention to detail.
- Use innovative thinking to streamline administrative processes and enhance operational efficiency for the CEO’s office.
- Conduct proactive research and compile comprehensive reports on a broad range of topics to inform the CEO’s decision‑making.
- Assist in special projects and company‑wide initiatives, taking a hands‑on approach to drive successful outcomes.
- Demonstrate proactive problem‑solving by anticipating the CEO’s needs and addressing issues before they arise.
- Leverage knowledge of AI tools to enhance productivity, task management, and data analysis for the executive office.
- Manage a variety of administrative tasks, demonstrating exceptional multitasking and time management skills in a fast‑paced setting.
Preference given to current university students or recent graduates with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
CommunicationExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and confident demeanor.
Technical ProficiencyAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, with particular expertise in Outlook, Teams, and the Office suite.
Time Management & MultitaskingProven ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively under pressure.
Innovative MindsetDemonstrated ability to think creatively and suggest innovative solutions to improve processes.
ConfidentialityHigh level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information.
MultilingualProficiency in additional languages, especially English, Pashto, Dari, and French/German, is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated understanding of how artificial intelligence and other technologies can be used for administrative efficiency.
- Previous experience in a fast‑paced office or administrative role, or supporting a high‑level executive is preferred.
- A portfolio of strong writing samples or a content creation background is highly valued.
