Position Overview
As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Environmental Protection, you will support an important mission that helps protect Pennsylvania’s natural resources. Description of WorkThis position provides clerical and program support to the Waterways and Wetlands Program in the Southcentral Regional Office. It plays an important role in keeping program operations accurate and organized. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Data Entry Support:
Enter program information into electronic systems with accuracy and completeness - Application Intake:
Log and process incoming permit applications and related fees - Document Processing:
Upload digital and paper files into the OnBase system and prepare scan sheets - Communication Assistance:
Answer calls, greet visitors, and provide non‑technical support to the public - Mail Handling:
Sort, distribute, and prepare outgoing program mail according to procedures - General Clerical Tasks:
Maintain files, type documents, and assist other programs as needed
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework:
After training, you may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time, up to 3 days per week, if you have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
