Public Affairs Coordinator

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC

Where You'll Work

This position is based in our Washington, DC office. We leverage a hybrid working model working three days in the office, two days optional remote work.

What You'll Do

This role provides a broad range of administrative support for the Public Affairs team. Under the direction of the Vice President, Federal Affairs, general administrative support relates to meetings, communications, advocacy events and general CHA functions. These efforts require daily, weekly and monthly planning and prioritization of workload, coordinating with other teams while exercising initiative in completing projects.

  • Manages and coordinates administrative support for Public Affairs with other Coordinator, Public Affairs.
  • Manages CHA compliance with federal lobbying laws including drafting and submitting quarterly lobbying disclosure forms filed on behalf of the legal entities within CHA as well as supporting semi-annual individual lobbyists' reporting requirements for Public Affairs team.
  • Provides administrative and logistical support for meetings and webinars led by the Public Affairs team, including with member hospital leadership.
  • Assists with CHA PAC's administrative, clerical and compliance duties.
  • Assists department with communications, including targeted emails and newsletters. These efforts include drafting, formatting and proofing communications and documents (correspondence, talking points, fact sheets, speeches, Hill email blasts, presentations, etc.) following CHA style guidelines.
  • Manages and maintains department contact records, mailing lists and associated information through CHA customer relationship database.
  • Manages department publication subscriptions and other services while coordinating with other program areas to avoid duplication and ensure access.
  • Works with Public Affairs and Finance team on managing invoices.
  • Support Public Affairs leadership team with scheduling.
What You'll Bring To CHA
  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
  • Bachelor's degree in government, public policy, health care or related field highly preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience, preferably in public policy, advocacy, research or a related field.
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate materials under deadline.
  • Solid understanding of the federal government and legislative process.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and other common business software.
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals at all job levels, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience with web content and customer relationship management database systems, preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

  • This pay range shown is a guideline. Min: $50,000 Max: $91,000 Compensation is based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
