Position: Executive Assistant (Volunteer, Unpaid)

Company Description

Causeynot (Cause Y Not) is a youth-focused nonprofit that empowers young people in Ottawa, ages 15–30, to design and lead community projects with real impact. The organization provides one‑on‑one mentorship, hands‑on workshops, and certifications such as CPR and Mental Health First Aid to build practical skills and confidence. Through access to microgrants and supportive networks, Causeynot helps youth turn bold ideas into sustainable community solutions.

Volunteers join a collaborative environment that values inclusion, innovation, and youth leadership. The team works closely with community partners to expand resources and opportunities for young changemakers.

Role Description

As an Executive Assistant (Volunteer, Unpaid) at Causeynot, you will provide direct administrative support to the leadership team to help keep programs and operations running smoothly. This hybrid role is based in Ottawa, ON, with a mix of in‑person and remote responsibilities, and offers some flexibility for working from home. Day‑to‑day tasks may include managing calendars, organizing meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, maintaining contact lists, and coordinating internal and external communications.

You may also support expense tracking, assist with basic reporting, help organize events and workshops, and maintain digital filing systems and shared documents. This volunteer role is well‑suited for someone looking to develop professional administrative skills while contributing to youth empowerment and community impact.

Qualifications
  • Strong executive administrative assistance skills, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and documentation.
  • Experience with executive support, such as preparing briefing notes, organizing priorities, and managing confidential information.
  • Ability to assist with expense reports and basic record‑keeping in an accurate and organized manner.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and inclusive approach.
  • General administrative assistance skills, including email and file management, data entry, and use of office or collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft 365).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment in Ottawa, ON, with reliable access to the internet and a computer for remote tasks.
  • Interest in youth empowerment, community development, or the nonprofit sector; prior volunteer or administrative experience is an asset but not required.
