Job DescriptionThe Office of the Registrar is dedicated to providing service of the highest caliber to all of our constituents – current and former students, faculty, administrative staff, and the general public.
ResponsibilitiesThe Student Services Coordinator (SSC) completes a wide range of front‑line service functions and serves as the primary resource for the production of transcripts and enrollment and degree verifications; matriculation and communicating with non‑degree students; assisting with the processing of registration transactions as needed, and grade changes. The SSC will also respond to various internal and external data requests quickly and accurately and provide general assistance throughout the Registrar’s Office as directed by management staff.
Education and Experience- Associate’s Degree and two+ years of experience in a professional office setting (preferably in a university setting) with a high degree and appreciation for customer service as well as ability to multitask and utilize office software applications; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Ability to listen effectively to inquiries and determine appropriate individual, division, or external office that inquiry is most relevant to satisfy requestor’s needs
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi‑task
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – patience, tact, good judgement, courteous demeanor even in difficult situations
- Ability to learn complexities of the Brown curriculum and explain them clearly and accurately
- Must be able to think and work independently and also as a member of a team
- Proficient with computer applications (Banner, Word, Excel, Cognos reporting tools).
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate student database systems and external web applications such as the National Student Clearinghouse
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/deadlines specific to the position and be willing to assist in other areas with clerical tasks on an as‑needed basis.
- Appreciation for and understanding of working with confidential information on a daily basis.

During the Academic Year, the Registrar's Office operates on a hybrid (three days in the office, two days at home) schedule. During the Summer, members of the office can elect to work up to four days a week e exceptions due to high volume times apply.
