Job Summary
Seasonal Fair Assistant – El Paso County Fair & Events Center
Organized, detail‑oriented individuals with event planning skills and a passion for customer service are invited to join the Recreation and Cultural Services Division as a Seasonal Fair Assistant. In this role, you will orchestrate one of the county’s most anticipated celebrations, ensuring seamless operations and memorable experiences for all attendees.
- Provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders: answer, screen, and direct incoming calls; take messages; greet and assist visitors and clients.
- Maintain and update spreadsheets and filing systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Help schedule and coordinate meetings, including arranging dates, times, and locations.
- Support the planning and execution of events at the Fair & Events Center, contributing to the success of community activities.
- Prepare, type, proofread, email, fax, and draft communications; make copies.
- Maintain databases and file systems; input, change, and update information to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in meeting coordination and data entry; track and maintain program data.
- Prepare reports, calendars, graphs, and spreadsheets for program activities.
- Create and update forms, handouts, training aids, binders, and other documents.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and faxes; process outgoing mail.
- Maintain office equipment and supply inventory as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Hiring Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 hourly
Work schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (subject to change); some evening hours may be required.
Position duration: 4 to 6 weeks, starting on June 23, 2026.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
- Strong time management skills with attention to detail; strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions, organize, coordinate, and prioritize tasks and move between projects on short notice.
- Effective communication skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with staff, County employees, clients, and the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to compile and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to work independently.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- One year of administrative experience.
- Associate’s degree or higher may substitute for the required experience.
- Must pass a conditional post‑offer background investigation and drug screen.
Duties are performed primarily in an office setting and may involve remote work depending on Department discretion and business needs. Work may require long hours, evenings, and weekends. This is a temporary position typically not to exceed five months.
