Responsibilities
- Accurately enter customer vital record information in the Birth Registry System (BRS) to produce certified copies of birth records.
- Build an electronic database of birth records using the BRS.
- Prepare data from indexes, card files, birth records, and other documents for transfer into BRS.
- Process follow‑up record requests and answer inquiries to resolve problems related to vital record requests.
- Receive a computer and phone from MDHHS; if working remotely, provide a secure workplace that allows privacy, maintain a high‑speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, and provide suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities at own expense.
- Apply online via NEOGOV; hard‑copy applications are not accepted.
- Attach a resume with specific experience, dates of employment (month/year), and hours per week.
- Attach a cover letter.
- Attach an official transcript (scanned copy); unofficial documents will not be accepted.

- High‑school completion (or equivalent).
- One year of administrative support experience (two years required for E7 level).
- General Office Assistant 5 – no specific experience required.
- General Office Assistant 6 – one year of administrative support experience.
- General Office Assistant E7 – two years of administrative support experience, including one year at an intermediate level.
- Physical location: 333 South Grand Avenue, Lansing, MI.
- Remote work and hybrid schedules may be considered; candidates must complete remote work within Michigan.
