The Position

As part of our supervisory team, you will be responsible for overseeing clerical workers who support professional income maintenance staff, as well as collaborating with other Clerical Supervisors to keep all daily office functions running smoothly.

As a Clerical Supervisor 1 with the Westmoreland CAO, you will oversee clerical staff who support income maintenance operations that help community members apply for and access important services. We will rely on your leadership, coordination, and teamwork skills to keep essential processes on track.
- Clerical Oversight:
Plan, assign, and distribute work; review all aspects of work by the clerical team to ensure it is completed timely and accurately - Supervisory Duties:
Set daily schedules to ensure adequate clerical coverage, complete performance reviews, interview candidates for clerical vacancies, and complete other related duties - Provide Training:
Explain and instruct staff in processing methods and procedures; interpret and apply income maintenance program related policies, procedures, and regulations - Workflow Efficiency:
Monitor daily mail, phone calls, front desk work, scanning, data entry, and all other incoming workflow; coordinate with other supervisors to prevent or address backlogs; and participate in clerical work as needed - Customer Support:
Interact objectively and with sensitivity with coworkers, applicants, and customers in stressful or difficult situations; maintain a complaint log; and help resolve grievances - Program Coordination:
Serve as an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Coordinator and as Clerical Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Coordinator by maintaining practical, clerical processes for both programs
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time, after successful completion of the probationary period - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes)
- One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- One year of moderately complex clerical experience
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
- Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs
