Responsibilities
Assists Student Leadership Department with outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives and projects supporting student engagement. Organizes activities for students that support the development of a campus community. Assists with promotion and planning of engagement events. Provides reception and clerical services for Student Life and Leadership.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions- Position requires good hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard, typewriter or other office equipment.
- Lifting, pulling, and bending are often required for setting up and breaking down events.
- Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers.
- Requires hearing and speaking ability sufficient to carry on routine conversations in person or over the phone.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds.
- Work is normally performed in an office setting with little or no exposure to health and safety hazards.
- Requires some evening hours.
- During campus closure may require some work from home.
- Occasional travel to offsite recruitment activities required.
- Considerable time is spent working at a computer.
- Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
- Requires basic office and clerical skills and familiarity with general office equipment including personal computers.
- Requires good communication, customer relations and phone skills, electronic communication and writing skills.
- Prefer familiarity with department policies and procedures.
- Must be able to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision and following well-defined policies and procedures.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize and plan work to perform in a frequently fast-paced environment and within a designated time frame with goals and timelines.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with diverse populations in a courteous manner, exercising patience, either over the phone or in person.
- Must have good public speaking skills.
- Must be willing to learn and participate in student outreach, both in person and in a remote environment.
- General clerical or secretarial experience is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
