Description of WorkThis position supports the daily operations of the Bedford County Assistance Office by carrying out a wide range of clerical tasks that keep public assistance processes on track. The work involves handling records, assisting clients, managing mail, and supporting staff needs. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Case Processing: Complete file clearances, register applications, and import electronic submissions.
- Record Management: Maintain, purge, and organize records, including closed files and state retention materials.
- Front Desk Support: Assist visitors, route calls, distribute mail, and update daily logs.
- Mail Handling: Process incoming and outgoing mail, scan and attach documents, and manage postage tasks.
- EBT Card Work: Create EBT cards, maintain logs, and secure required approvals.
- Specialty Tasks: Prepare MIPAA requests, process CAOAA checks, and assist with general clerical duties.
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch.
- Travel and overtime as needed.

- WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with district offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites in compliance with contract language.
- Telework: Opportunity to work from home part‑time; requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent federal government job title).
- Graduation from high school.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Hiring preference will be given to candidates who live within Bedford County. If no eligible candidates who live within Bedford County apply, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
- You must pass a background investigation.
