Communications Program Coordinator

The Betsy Lehman Center is a dynamic state agency that plays a unique role in improving health care safety and quality in Massachusetts. Our programming, research, policy and communications work engages other state health care agencies, providers, and consumers in initiatives. The Center, named for a Boston Globe health columnist who died in 1994 from a preventable medical error, is supported by and shares space with the state's Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA).

We are seeking a resourceful individual to serve as the Center's Communications Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Communications Director, with an annual salary of $65,000- $75,000.

The Center operates on a hybrid work model with two designated days each week in the Center's office near Copley Square in Boston, allowing for flexible, remote work three days each week.

As the Communications Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to be part of a highly collaborative team, contribute to impactful public health programs and work with a variety of external stakeholders.

The coordinator's specific duties include:

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders. This includes scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, disseminating meeting agendas, taking notes, writing minutes or summaries, assembling responses, and needed follow-up actions.
  • Writes and edits content for a variety of materials including newsletters, flyers, reports, social media, educational content, and the website.
  • Create engaging videos and infographics for the newsletter, website, and social media.
  • Support Center staff in producing virtual events and webinars on Zoom.
  • Support communications team in developing marketing and communications plans, including strategies for disseminating reports and raising awareness of Center programs.

The successful candidate is a self-starter who has a desire to contribute to a small team with an important mission and who also has:

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of and interest in public health. Knowledge of patient safety and/or government work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Premiere, is a plus.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) 2 years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitution below

  • A bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
