Begin a meaningful public service career as a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Bedford County Assistance Office. This role offers the chance to support community members while building strong administrative skills.
Responsibilities- Case Processing
:
Complete file clearances, register applications, and import electronic submissions - Record Management
:
Maintain, purge, and organize records, including closed files and state retention materials - Front Desk Support
:
Assist visitors, route calls, distribute mail, and update daily logs - Mail Handling
:
Process incoming and outgoing mail, scan and attach documents, and manage postage tasks - EBT Card Work
:
Create EBT cards, maintain logs, and secure required approvals - Specialty Tasks
:
Prepare MIPAA requests, process CAOAA checks, and assist with general clerical duties
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Travel and overtime as needed.

- WORK CONDITIONS:
Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language. - Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bedford, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).
Qualifications- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or.
- Graduation from high school or.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Bedford County. If no eligible candidates who live within Bedford County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
