Overview
We are a mission‑driven community‑based organization that serves member health with excellence and dignity. As an internship, you will help shape the future of healthcare and support our Community Relations team by collaborating with providers, community partners, and local stakeholders.
PositionIntern (Community Relations) – Fall 2026 This full‑office internship requires working at the Orange, CA main office at least two days per week, with optional telework limited to California.
Responsibilities- Handle department‑assigned projects with moderate independence, meeting with supervisors to discuss status and progress.
- Assist the department’s management team with community engagement, program development, and implementation of special projects and large‑scale events.
- Coordinate administrative support for special events, projects, and meetings led by Cal Optima Health and community stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information.
- Develop rapport and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly in writing and orally.
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and manage multiple projects.
- Organize, analyze, solve problems, and possess project management skills.
- Motivate and lead multi‑program teams and external committees/coalitions.
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and job‑specific applications.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in a college or university (two‑ or four‑year, accredited vocational, or graduate program).
- Visual reading from computer screens, forms, and printed materials.
- Clear oral communication, hearing, and manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and move objects 10–25 pounds.
- Competitive compensation:
Pay Grade 301, $47,840–$64,584 ($23.00–$31.05 per hour). - Full‑office position in California (telework restricted to California).

Locations may vary:
- 500/505 Building or remote work: indoor, sedentary, variable hours, possible travel; moderate noise.
- Pace facility: indoor clinical setting serving frail and elderly; some hazardous conditions; moderate to loud noise.
- Community: indoor or outdoor work, varied temperatures, potential hazards, moderate to loud noise.
