Overview
The New York City Department of Veterans' Services (DVS) connects, mobilizes, and empowers New York City's Veteran community to foster purpose-driven lives for veterans, caregivers, survivors, and families. The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports City real estate needs, including space planning, acquisitions, and disposition of City-owned real estate. The RES Leasing unit negotiates leases and licenses on behalf of City agencies as a tenant in privately owned buildings, ensuring cost-effective terms and timely processing in alignment with City policies and procedures.
This role focuses on leasing activities within the DCAS framework to serve City agencies.
Flexible Work Update:
This position may be eligible for remote work up to two days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between City and CWA
1180.
- Work with Transaction Managers to research and analyze market comparables and other market data to assist in lease negotiations.
- Assist Transaction Managers in preparing requests and forms related to the lease or license process.
- Maintain and update various department databases.
- Assist in creating and distributing project status reports and other reports.
- Prepare the close-out files related to leases or licenses that are fully executed.
- Help Transaction Managers organize meetings with internal staff, agencies, and outside entities.
- Assist Transaction Managers in drafting correspondence, term sheets, and other basic leasing items.
- Participate in meetings to obtain information or provide updates to attendees.
- Assist in the follow-up to obtain deliverables for meetings such as ARC meetings.
- Work on ad hoc Leasing Department initiatives and processes.
- Assist Transaction Managers or other staff to prepare for City Planning public testimony regarding real property acquisitions on behalf of the City.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of Acquisition Review Committee (ARC) packages and required documentation.
- May assist in overseeing College Aides.
- Act as a Transaction Manager for assigned lease projects.
- Review estoppel and SNDA requests for accuracy.
1) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 years.
