Position: School Clerk (Grades: 9-12)

School Clerk

Full‑time position. Minimum salary: $28,579.00; median salary: $36,652.00.

Eligibility Criteria
  • High School Diploma or U.S. equivalent.
  • At least one year of office experience, including test coordinating.
  • Basic typing skills at 40 words per minute.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments with close supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a regular filing system and process incoming correspondence.
  • Proficiency in handling telephone calls and recorded messages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with all departments within the District.
  • Experience meeting the public, Dallas Independent School District executives, and other professionals.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment or alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus‑based employees because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus‑based personnel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage routine office activities.
  • Coordinate activities related to the special needs of the office.
  • Maintain a regular filing system and process incoming correspondence.
  • Handle telephone calls and recorded messages.
  • Type all documents and correspondence as required.
  • Order and maintain supplies, as needed.
  • Process all district forms.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and the public in an accurate, knowledgeable, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with departmental staff, principals, teachers, and others outside the district in oral and written form.
  • Accomplish assignments using computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and project management applications.
  • Prepare periodic status reports related to assigned functions for the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrate willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
