LocationThis position is located in Localized Eligibility Processing (LEP), Greenville County.
This is an in‑office role and not a telecommute or remote position.
Position OverviewWe are looking for an Eligibility Specialist II (MAGI) who will determine/re‑determine Medicaid eligibility according to Medicaid policies and procedures. This position collects and evaluates documentation from applicants to determine individual and family eligibility for the program.
Responsibilities- Uses various information sources, electronic tools and systems to collect, assemble, evaluate and act upon information provided by applicants and third parties to make timely eligibility determinations, reviews and changes. Follows policies and procedures for application and documentation collection, and obtains additional information as necessary with minimal burden.
- Performs follow‑up activities efficiently and effectively, using the most appropriate communication method to obtain outstanding information. Documents all notes and steps clearly and completely for review and hand‑off to other specialists.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all processes, policies, procedures and system updates to ensure determinations, reviews and changes are completed accurately with satisfactory documentation. Resolves discrepancies in a timely manner and follows appropriate escalation processes.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and clear, polite communication with co‑workers, supervisors and beneficiaries. Attends all mandatory meetings, trainings and events as directed. Complies with all agency policies, including privacy, confidentiality, performance, leave, compensation, travel and financial controls.
- High‑school diploma with experience in customer services, social services, human services or Medicaid processing.
- Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required program experience.
- Familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office, web browsers and strong English reading, writing and speaking skills.
- Basic mathematical computation skills.
- Work in a professional office environment with diverse teammates and provide excellent customer service face‑to‑face, telephonically or written.
- Ability to learn, retain and apply federal rules and standards for Medicaid eligibility.
- Maintain productive workspace and perform tasks efficiently with attention to completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
- Overtime and/or weekend work with Deputy approval.
- Sitting or standing for long periods.
- Lifting up to 20 lbs.
