Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $6,031 per month (Steps 1
- 3), commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is $5,797 to $8,445 per month. This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position. Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Under the general direction of the Provost, the incumbent performs a wide variety of high level functions to relieve the Provost of administrative details of the office. The incumbent contributes to a positive work environment. As the lead office staff, the incumbent works with other office staff to assure prompt responses and prepares correspondence and supporting documentation as directed. The incumbent is responsible for collecting, evaluating and interpreting data necessary to make informed recommendations to the Provost.
KeyQualifications
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply extensive expertise to complex programs and/or administrative issues including pertinent laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in and advanced knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration and operational and fiscal management.
- Demonstrated ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and exercise good judgment on sensitive matters. Maintain high level of confidentiality in handling student and faculty files.
- Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility in response to constantly shifting priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Mastery of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Experience with campus governance.
- Mastery of campus software applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and knowledge of, or ability to learn, Web maintenance software.
- Use of approved digital tools, collaboration platforms, workflow systems, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools where appropriate and consistent with University policy, to improve accuracy, efficiency, accessibility, communication, documentation, and executive office operations.

Education and Experience- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Intermediate knowledge of People Soft Financial programs or comparable applications
- Peoplesoft Budget Query knowledge
- Experience supporting an executive-level office in higher education, public administration, or a similarly complex organization.
- Experience with People Soft, Concur, financial/budget systems, electronic signature/workflow platforms, shared document systems, and/or project management tools.
- Experience supporting accreditation, compliance reviews, audits, executive searches, governance processes, or high-level institutional initiatives.
