Performs advanced secretarial and management assistant duties for the Labor Relations Manager. Assists in coordinating office activities including scheduling meetings, maintaining, and preparing reports and correspondence. Functions as liaison to staff and other agencies, unions, departmental employers, managers, administrators, and the Office of the State Employer.

Education:
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience:
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8. OR Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.
This position is located in Lansing, Michigan and will require reporting in person for the first two weeks. After the initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be approved that will allow work to be performed remotely up to 50% of the time with the other 50% of the work being performed in-person in Lansing. There is no option for this position to be fully remote or work to be performed in a different city/location so it will require commuting to Grandview Plaza in Lansing 50% each pay period.
The Michigan Department of Corrections is not an E-Verify employer and does not sponsor visa applications. New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification.
All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
