DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the Clearance Verification Unit by receiving, reviewing, and processing applications that determine whether individuals meet state requirements to work with children. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:
- Call Handling:
Respond to public inquiries and return calls regarding clearance matters, providing clear guidance about required steps - Customer Service:
Engage professionally and empathetically with applicants at the clearance window to ease concerns and provide helpful support - Data Entry:
Enter information from various clearance applications into designated electronic systems - Record Review:
Analyze information across multiple state and federal databases to verify applicant status and ensure compliance with law - Status Verification:
Check child abuse history results to determine whether an applicant matches any substantiated abuse records - Criminal Checks:
Review criminal history information and determine final status in accordance with applicable laws

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

- One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
