This position is eligible for telework {1} day a week. Telework eligibility and total days per week are subject to change based on the operational needs of the applicable unit/area. Montgomery College does not currently offer voluntary remote work, or withhold payroll taxes for states outside of its tax reciprocity agreements. As a result, employees must reside in, and perform any approved telework from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, or Pennsylvania.
Employees residing in other states at the time of hire are not eligible for telework until they have secured a permanent residence in one of the states listed above.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Serve as first point of contact responding to telephone, e-mail, and in-person queries from students, parents, faculty, staff, corporate clients, and the general public about various processes involving programs, services, courses offered, financial aid, admission eligibility requirements, and website navigation. Determine how to best answer inquiries and inform of next steps. Meet with students and guide them in choosing a program and class.
Provide coverage for the call center during department closings.
Process open enrollment, contract, and grant registrations, course drops, and transfers, avoiding the creation of duplicate student records.
Maintain academic history and student records to ensure appropriate residency and waivers for tuition purposes. Research student education and enrollment history for verification.
Collect, review, and verify incoming documents for completeness and accuracy according to established Federal, State, and College eligibility requirements.
Review weekly reports and resolve inconsistencies.
Work with program areas to ensure proper program-to-student communication and draft a variety of documents informing students of events, programs, or deadlines.
Accept and secure multiple types of payment, including checks, credit cards, money orders, scholarships, and vouchers, and process daily bank out activity to accurately represent fiscal activity impacting financial reporting. Apply hold codes to student accounts and generate refunds or credits as appropriate.
Provide training to faculty and staff on using classroom technology and troubleshoot technology in the absence of IT staff. Report needed repairs by generating work orders.
This position may require travel to and work at other college locations as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and/or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Two years of general office experience involving customer service.
Solid working knowledge of contemporary office practices, business writing, spelling, grammar, and standard communication formats.
Ability to manage multi-line phone systems, perform accurate data entry, and coordinate college-wide information to serve as a central resource and point of contact for the college community.
Ability to safeguard sensitive student financial, academic, and personal records in accordance with institutional privacy standards.
Strong interpersonal skills to navigate sensitive or challenging interactions with students, parents, and the community using diplomacy, patience, and tact.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience within a higher education or post-secondary setting, with a background in student support services.
Hiring Range: $23.05 - $28.81/hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $34.57/hourly.
