DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides administrative support to the Bureau of Food and Nutrition to help ensure clear communication, accurate processing, and timely reporting. The work supports staff, sponsors, and statewide nutrition programs. As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Support:
Assist with CN PEARS and NSLP COMPASS activities by processing forms, reviewing data, and responding to support requests - Report Preparation:
Prepare monthly, weekly, and annual reports by reviewing data, organizing information, and submitting materials to appropriate staff - Claim Review:
Verify sponsor claims by examining documentation, comparing records, and summarizing findings for supervisory staff - Guideline Updates:
Review new federal guidance, assess impacts on procedures, and recommend updates that improve accuracy and efficiency - Review Assistance:
Communicate with sponsors, review submitted forms, track deadlines, and maintain records related to administrative review processes - Documentation Management:
Maintain CN PEARS records, organize correspondence, and ensure materials are complete and up to date
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Staff is required to report to the worksite one day a week (Thursday). In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of 46,827.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
