Cataloging Librarian

BCCLS seeks a full-time Librarian to join its Cataloging Department. This position reports to the Executive Director and is a member of a dynamic three-person team. The cataloging department supports its seventy-nine (79) members by ensuring timely entry of new materials, ongoing quality control, and assist in ensuring all applicable policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Creates original and copy-cataloged MARC records for materials submitted for catalog entry in compliance with AACR2, RDA, MARC, LCSH standards and local cataloging policies
• Provides original cataloging for local history, self-published items, brand new items, reprints, etc.
• Maintains and cleans up data fields as needed
• Responds to cataloging- and linking-related inquiries from library staff
• Provides training and support for cataloging
• Keeps informed of cataloging developments and collection development trends

• M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited library science program
• Excellent English, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• Ability to travel statewide and nationwide to professional conferences and events

• Experience working in cataloging for two (2) plus years
• Reading knowledge or cataloging familiarity with languages other than English
• Experience working with OCLC Worldcat protocols and authority controls systems
