Penn State Altoona is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Student Services Assistant (Intermediate or Senior Support Level) to join our campus community. This full-time, on-site position provides vital administrative and programmatic support to both the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and the Division of Student Affairs
.
The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment by being the first point of contact for visitors, students, and staff. They will assist with office operations and coordination, event logistics, and operations of the campus food pantry, supporting the overall mission of student development and well-being and community care.
RESPONSIBILITIESServe as the front-line greeter for DEIB and Student Affairs spaces; assess visitor needs and direct them appropriately
Provide administrative support including scheduling, communications, financial processing, and record keeping
Support and maintain the campus food pantry including shopping, stocking shelves, transporting items, and inventory management
Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of events and programs hosted by DEIB and Student Affairs
Maintain a professional, welcoming, and organized environment within the offices
Collaborate with staff to enhance student engagement and support initiatives
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for special events
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented with a commitment to student support
Demonstrable commitment to Penn State Values (excellence, community, discovery, integrity, respect, and responsibility)
Strong commitment to ethics and confidentiality required.
Ability to lift and carry items for pantry operations (up to 30 lbs)
Prior experience in administrative support or student services is a plus

Associate Degree4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M.
- 5:00 P.M., with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
This position works fully in-person at the Altoona Campus.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $40,608.00 - $64,668.00.
