Internship Opportunity
The intern selected for this position will provide support and assistance to the Facilities Operations team. The position reports to the Director of Planning and Construction and will work closely with project managers and the Interior Designer. This position offers hands-on experience with campus construction and renovation projects, project coordination, and stakeholder communication.
This position requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm, with flexibility during final-exam periods. This is an in-person position based out of the Campus Support Services building on the UM Dearborn campus.
Responsibilities- Assist project managers with campus construction and renovation projects.
- Visit campus buildings and project sites to take field measurements, conduct inventories, take photographs, and document existing conditions.
- Help create and update project plans, schedules, and timelines.
- Record meeting notes, track action items, and maintain organized project files.
- Schedule meetings and communicate with team members, campus partners, and vendors regarding project updates.
- Assist with tracking project expenses and budgets.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and project documentation for stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Current University of Michigan-Dearborn student in good academic standing
- Ability to work 10-20 hours per week during regular business hours
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Reliable transportation to campus
- Ability to access project jobsites, including using ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Federal Work-Study eligibility, if applicable
- Interest in project management, construction, architecture, engineering, interior design, facilities management, or a related field
- Expected enrollment at UM-Dearborn for at least two additional academic terms
- Experience managing schedules, organizing files, preparing reports, or coordinating group projects
- The name and contact information of a UM-Dearborn faculty or staff member who can serve as a reference.
- Experience with AutoCAD
