Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator will support the various elements of the City government portfolio. The role will be under the primary supervision of the Assistant Vice President of External Affairs and Enterprise Strategy, but will also manage and execute projects for other leaders within the team, including the Chief External Affairs Officer. The Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of tasks to develop and sustain the team’s relationships with government partners.
The Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying and managing longer-term opportunities to advance NYC Health and Hospital’s city priorities.
- Work in partnership with the Government Affairs team and other departments to advance the System’s legislative objectives and policy priorities.
- Coordinate legislative hearings by preparing briefing materials, supporting subject matter experts in testimony preparation, coordinating logistics, attending hearings, and managing follow-up activities.
- Maintain communications with elected officials and staff members on the city, state and federal level, including correspondence, requests for support, event invitations, and other outreach.
- Provide administrative and project management support for Government Affairs initiatives, including preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, maintaining tracking documents, and supporting special projects.
- Assist in meeting management including developing and preparing materials, sending invitations, coordinating logistics, recording meeting minutes, and other associated tasks
- Coordinate system-wide reporting for monthly Board meetings, Mayor’s Management Report (MMR) and Preliminary Mayor’s Management Report (PMMR), including collecting and tracking data from facilities.
- Support facilities in applying for City funding opportunities including participatory budgeting and discretionary funding applications.
- Serve as a liaison for Community Board requests by coordinating responses and maintaining required reporting.
- Monitor social media and public communications relevant to legislative and policy priorities.
