The Department collects approximately 87% of state revenue, enforces the revenue laws fairly and impartially to encourage voluntary tax compliance, and apportions collections to the various state funds and local units of government.

How You Make a Difference In This Role

In this role, you help the Department of Revenue make public services possible. Our vision is to maximize voluntary compliance through transparency, innovation, and engagement. Working with the Assistant Commissioner, you will help ensure the largest and most geographically dispersed department division meets its operational goals consistent with our vision.

Job Overview

This position reports to the Assistant Commissioner over tax audit operations and other functions including liaising with Department of Economic and Community Development. The Executive Administrative Assistant serves as a high-level administrative partner, supporting executive workflow, calendar management, communication coordination, follow-up tracking, and operational support across multiple compliance functions including office and field audit, tax incentive and exemption review, refunds, and other audit-related units as well as directly collaborating with Department Administration and other Revenue divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct executive administrative support to Assistant Commissioner, including proactive calendar and correspondence management, travel coordination, scheduling, and receiving and routing of visitors.
  • Anticipates executive needs, identifies upcoming deadlines or decision points, prepares relevant background materials, and ensures Assistant Commissioner is positioned for meetings, approvals, and presentations.
  • Provides direct support in overseeing, tracking, and reporting strategic initiatives, and assigned projects, including follow-up on assigned actions.
  • Provides open and regular communication with multiple internal and external customers including Commissioner's Office, taxpayers, tax practitioners, and others.
  • Drafts, reviews, edits, and coordinates correspondence, reports, agendas, presentations, meeting notes, briefing materials, and other executive-level documents.
  • Coordinates with other executive and administrative assistants to ensure aligned with Department leadership goals, providing needed, timely responses and general administrative support across Audit Administration groups.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from accredited college or university with bachelor's degree AND experience equivalent to four or more years of full-time professional staff administrative experience or related work. Legal/paralegal and/or direct executive administrative experience strongly preferred.
