Job Overview
Title:
Manheim Mobile Inspector II. Remote position (working remotely part of the week). Must reside in Van Nuys, CA, Woodland Hills, CA, or Simi Valley, CA. Compensation:
Hourly base pay $19.90 - $29.81 per hour with potential commission or incentive program.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections on client dealer lots.
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely.
- Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate information into the inspection system (VIN, mileage, sub-series).
- Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting damage, missing or inoperable items.
- Document exterior condition (tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components).
- Document interior condition (seats, dashboard, options).
- Perform basic mechanical checks (powertrain, drivetrain, electrical components).
- Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
- Adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit.
- Develop strong knowledge of clients and engage to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections.
- Leverage partner data and insight to maximize units inspected on dealer lots.
- Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador, providing premier client experience and ensuring satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with Wholesale Specialists, peers, other Manheim work groups, and auctions.
- Use for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews.
- Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
- Participate in continuous improvement/lean initiatives and drive a lean culture.
- Maintain production expectations set by leadership.
- Follow all safety and health procedures and model safe behaviors.
- Participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field (or equivalent combination). 5 years’ experience is also acceptable.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Full‑time travel 100% of the time; reliable transportation and mileage reimbursement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical aptitude and keen attention to detail.
- Motivated to work independently under remote supervision.
- Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
- Knowledge of body, paint, and mechanical repair helpful.
- Familiarity with unibody and full‑frame vehicles helpful.
- Physical ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs. at waist level for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly; frequently required to crouch, bend, kneel, and reach under vehicles.
- Near‑vision abilities to identify dings, scratches, paint work, hail, frame/unibody, and interior damage.
- Ability to identify exterior or interior colors and handle different lighting conditions.
- Mental acuity to execute duties within required time frames.
- 1–2 years of automotive related experience.
- Experience navigating handheld and other documentation devices.
- Automotive knowledge, especially body and mechanical.
