This is a full-time hybrid role for an Automotive Service Technician based in McAllen, TX, with primary responsibilities performed on-site and some work-from-home tasks such as training modules, documentation, and online service updates. The Automotive Service Technician will diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles, perform routine maintenance services (such as oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, and inspections), and ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety standards.
Daily responsibilities include using diagnostic equipment and service manuals, documenting all repairs and recommendations, and communicating clearly with service advisors regarding vehicle status and required work. The technician will follow dealership and OEM procedures, maintain a clean and safe work area, and contribute to a positive, respectful team environment focused on excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to perform vehicle diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance across major systems (engine, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC).
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools, scan equipment, service information systems, and basic computer skills for repair orders and online training.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and documentation skills to ensure accurate repair records and efficient workflow.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with service advisors, parts personnel, and other technicians in a professional manner.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Completion of an automotive technology program, manufacturer or ASE certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience in dealership or independent shop settings (Chevrolet/GM experience is a plus).
- Commitment to safety, continuous learning, and adherence to dealership, manufacturer, and regulatory standards.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including standing for extended periods, lifting parts and equipment, and working in a shop environment with appropriate PPE.
