The PDI Technician is responsible for performing accurate and thorough Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on vehicles assigned to the Sames Auto Group Government Team. This is a part-time position dedicated exclusively to supporting government vehicle orders and deliveries.

The PDI Technician inspects vehicles to verify that they meet manufacturer specifications, dealership standards, and the requirements established for government deliveries before the vehicles are released. The position is responsible for identifying and documenting any defects, damage, missing equipment, warning indicators, or mechanical concerns and communicating those findings to the Government Team for appropriate resolution.

The PDI Technician works independently at a designated remote location and must maintain accurate inspection documentation, protect government-assigned vehicles, and ensure each vehicle is properly inspected and prepared for delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform complete and accurate Pre-Delivery Inspections on government-assigned vehicles.
  • Follow manufacturer PDI procedures, dealership requirements, and Government Team inspection standards.
  • Inspect vehicles for proper operation, condition, equipment, and overall readiness for delivery.
  • Verify vehicle identification, mileage, equipment, accessories, and applicable documentation.
  • Inspect exterior and interior condition and identify damage, defects, missing components, or concerns.
  • Check vehicle fluid levels and inspect for visible leaks or other concerns.
  • Verify operation of lights, signals, gauges, controls, safety equipment, and applicable vehicle systems.
  • Verify tires, wheels, brakes, battery, and other accessible components as required by the PDI process.
  • Confirm that required equipment, keys, manuals, accessories, and other items are present.
  • Identify and document any damage or condition concerns discovered during the inspection.
  • Communicate inspection findings promptly to the Government Team.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate Service, Parts, or management personnel when repairs, parts, corrections, or additional work are required.
  • Reinspect vehicles after required corrections have been completed when assigned.
  • Complete and maintain accurate PDI checklists, inspection forms, photographs, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure inspection records clearly identify the vehicle, inspection date, findings, and status.
  • Maintain the security, cleanliness, and proper condition of government-assigned vehicles while in the Technician's care.
  • Follow established procedures for vehicle keys, access, movement, and security.
  • Operate vehicles safely and only as necessary to perform inspection and preparation responsibilities.
  • Report accidents, damage, safety concerns, or other incidents immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe remote work area.
  • Maintain assigned tools and inspection equipment in good working condition.
  • Protect customer and government-related information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain professional communication and working relationships with the Government Team and dealership personnel.
  • Follow all Sames Auto Group policies, manufacturer requirements, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other duties related to government vehicle preparation as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Daily
  • Receive vehicles assigned for PDI inspection from the Government Team.
  • Verify vehicle identification and confirm the correct inspection requirements.
  • Complete the required PDI checklist for each assigned vehicle.
  • Inspect vehicle exterior and interior condition.
  • Inspect applicable mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Verify lights, signals, gauges, controls, safety equipment, and other required vehicle functions.
  • Check tires, wheels, fluid levels, battery, and other applicable components.
  • Verify required equipment, keys, manuals, accessories, and documentation.
  • Identify and document any defects, damage, missing equipment, or other concerns.
  • Take photographs or provide other documentation when required.
  • Submit completed inspection documentation to the Government Team.
  • Communicate concerns requiring repair, correction, or additional attention.
  • Move and stage vehicles as necessary to complete inspections safely.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and protect vehicles while performing inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
  • Secure vehicles and keys when not being actively inspected.
