Role DescriptionSMBC is undergoing a digital transformation by rebuilding our Corporate Cash Management and Transaction Banking application. The Business Analyst is part of the Cash Management/Transaction Banking group within Corporate Banking and is responsible for analyzing current system functionality, identifying customer pain points, and gathering business requirements for future application capabilities.
Role Objectives:Delivery
- Partners within cross‑functional agile teams with product owners, software developers, and UI/UX designers.
- Performs analysis and design around the business requirements and specifications.
- Ensures client perspective is leveraged in design of analytics developed for client use.
- Participates in Agile ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives).
- Translates client and business needs into user stories, business requirements, acceptance criteria, workflows, and presentations.
- Conducts industry analysis and competitive research to inform and enhance product recommendations.
- Provides updates to Agile Release Train and leadership, including sprint reviews, key milestones, and inter‑team dependencies.
- Leverages internal and external data to extract actionable insights.
- Partners with Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing teams to ensure product reliability and alignment with functional requirements.
Interpersonal
Collaborates with colleagues in the treasury and cash management product development ecosystem to clarify questions around product features and customer value proposition. Interfaces with legal, compliance, risk management and other internal control and operations groups to identify and clear obstacles to product enhancements/releases. Works with marketing to ensure materials are relevant and accurate for new or modified treasury and cash management products.
Collaborates closely with consumer, corporate banking, cards, and digital product management teams to optimize the overall firm offering.

- Understanding of corporate cash‑management services and treasury industry trends.
- Experience with Agile methodology preferred.
- Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Miro is preferred.
- Ability to put the customer as the driving force in all work delivered.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate requirements to both business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to influence people outside the immediate span of control, including business users, other staff, and vendors.
- Experience working in an environment where adherence to banking compliance and regulatory standards is essential.
