Overview

The Knot Worldwide seeks a Principal Product Manager to define and own the future of e-commerce for The Knot Worldwide. This is a strategic, high-visibility role focused on the cart and payments platform that powers our entire business. You will be the single-threaded owner responsible for the multi-year strategy, product performance, and user experience of a platform that processes millions of transactions across complex, mixed-cart scenarios.

You will report to the Senior Director of Product and lead a dedicated squad of design, data, and engineering partners with deep retail expertise. Responsibilities
  • Act as the company's foremost subject matter expert for all e-commerce transactions, payments, and compliance, guiding executive stakeholders and engineering architects on technical and strategic decisions.
  • Lead the core payments strategy, managing the full stack from payment processing and gateway relationships to fraud prevention and cost optimization.
  • Define the strategic vision and multi-year roadmap for the TKWW checkout and cart experience, creating a scaled, seamless, trustworthy, and high-converting funnel for both couples and their guests.
  • Own the product lifecycle for the universal cart, optimizing for complex, mixed-cart scenarios (e.g., third-party registry items, cash funds, honeymoon contributions, and physical products).
  • Drive outcome-focused execution, focusing on how the product impacts customers and the business.
  • Champion a world-class guest experience, understanding the user psychology of gifting to reduce friction, build trust, and drive measurable improvements.
  • Partner with design and user research to prototype, test, and launch new checkout experiences.
  • Drive the roadmap for payment method expansion, evaluating and integrating digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) and BNPL solutions.
  • Own the key business metrics for payments and implement strategies to improve them continuously.
  • Serve as the principal product liaison with Finance, Legal, and Security to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and mentor a pod of engineers and analysts, fostering a data-driven culture, rapid experimentation, and customer obsession.
  • Collaborate with product leaders to ensure cohesion between your products and the overall product experience on The Knot.
Successful Principal Product Manager Candidates Have
  • 10+ years in product management with a track record of driving complex, high-impact initiatives
  • Subject matter expertise in e-commerce with a focus on cart, checkout, and payment systems
  • Experience serving users in cash gifting scenarios
  • The ability to set strategic direction and help ideate and launch new products and experiences
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform product decisions and comfort with analytics tools
  • A track record of crafting strategies that scale quality consumer experiences
  • Executive communication and presence
  • Keen aesthetics and empathy with a user-centered mentality
  • Proven partnership with engineers and awareness of tech debt
Work Model

This role is (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). you’re based in NYC, we follow a hybrid schedule with in-office collaboration several days a week and work-from-home flexibility. If you’re in Austin, this position is remote for now, with the potential to shift to a hybrid model as our local team grows.
