Description:

This Food Sourcing Manager position leads Gleaners’ $6 million purchased food programming to ensure sufficient availability of high-quality, nutritious food staples to meet all organizational needs. The work environment is fast-paced and requires a leader comfortable managing ambiguity with strong decision-making skills. This position accommodates a hybrid work schedule, including both in-office (Monday-Wednesday) and remote work (Thursday-Friday unless in-person meeting is required).

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing: Developing purchasing plans for nutritious food staples while maintaining strict budget parameters.
  • Program Management: Overseeing the Co-Agency (CA) purchased food program
    , which involves direct ordering and inventory management for partner agencies.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivating partnerships with food manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers to maximize cost-effective food availability.
  • Operational Support: Coordinating with the Operations team to fulfill needs for mobile distributions, school programs, and grant-specific commitments.
  • Data Analysis: Tracking performance metrics and analyzing sourcing data to identify gaps in supply and optimize future procurement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working alongside the Fresh Food Sourcing Manager to ensure a balanced supply of both dry staples and fresh produce.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience in retail or wholesale food purchasing or sourcing required
  • 5+ years’ experience in retail grocery store management or food supply chain management preferred
  • Previous program/operations management experience preferred
  • Knowledge/understanding of the food supply chain network
  • Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (Business, Supply Chain Management, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated strong financial business acumen
  • Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership managerial approach
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage ambiguity
