Our client has an opening for aNational Outside Sales Director who will play a critical leadership role in driving a national go-to-market strategy for there innovative road stabilization chemical solutions. This senior, hands-on position is responsible for building and scaling a high-performing, rep-based sales organization across key geographic markets. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with operational excellence to establish scalable sales infrastructure, onboard and manage manufacturer representatives and independent agents, and align compensation and performance frameworks with company objectives.
With a focused approach on local government, municipal, and rural roadway authorities, this role is essential to expanding the market presence in the public infrastructure sector and achieving sustainable, long-term growth.
About the Role:
This role offers a unique opportunity to build and lead a national sales function from the ground up within a forward-thinking company at the forefront of innovative road stabilization technology. As a key executive leader, the National Outside Sales Director will shape company strategy, enjoy direct visibility with leadership, and play a pivotal role in expanding our clients market footprint across the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a national sales strategy leveraging manufacturer representatives and independent agents to accelerate market penetration.
- Lead the recruitment, vetting, onboarding, and ongoing management of a scalable rep network across targeted regions.
- Develop and maintain sales infrastructure—including training programs, sales collateral, messaging frameworks, and performance reporting—enabling rep success.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability standards for all sales partners.
- Create and implement commission structures, incentive plans, and KPIs that drive alignment with company growth and revenue goals.
- Establish a structured performance management system featuring regular reviews, pipeline oversight, and targeted coaching.
- Drive sales initiatives focused on road stabilization products within public sector markets, including local governments, municipalities, counties, and rural roadway authorities.
- Equip reps to navigate complex public procurement processes, extended sales cycles, and multi-stakeholder decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (operations, technical, and leadership) to ensure seamless execution from sale to delivery.
- Provide actionable market intelligence to leadership to inform product innovation, pricing strategy, and future expansion plans.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in chemicals, construction materials, infrastructure solutions, or related industries.
- Proven success in building, scaling, and managing national or regional manufacturer representative or agent-based sales organizations.
- Demonstrated experience selling technical or infrastructure solutions into local government, municipal, public works, or public sector markets.
- In-depth knowledge of commission-based compensation models and performance management systems.
- Ability to lead strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with a track record of team development.
- Experience managing remote, geographically dispersed sales teams with strong accountability and collaboration practices.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in sales forecasting, metrics, and performance reporting
