Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Absence Implementation Consultant!
About the roleIn this role, you will lead the implementation of customer absence and leave management solutions. You’ll guide clients through process and system changes, ensure compliance, and deliver user‑friendly, scalable solutions. This role combines subject‑matter expertise, project management, and strong partnership across client and internal teams.
What You will Do- Implementation
- Lead end‑to‑end implementations of absence management solutions from discovery through deployment.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on state and federal leave regulations, system capabilities, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with client leaders, HR teams, and technical partners to align absence solutions with business goals.
- Oversee the transition, validation, and reconciliation of historical FMLA data from legacy systems into the claim platform.
- Recommend scalable solutions for complex leave scenarios.
- Deliver training, documentation, and guidance to clients throughout implementation.
- Operational Execution
- Design and support configuration of absence plans, eligibility rules, and time‑off workflows.
- Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for compliance and operational challenges.
- Lead or participate in stakeholder alignment sessions, client workshops, and executive briefings.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best‑practice development.
- Support post‑implementation activities, including issue resolution and optimization.
- Participate in finalist meetings for smaller market opportunities, as needed.

Salary Range: $72,700 - $121,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Who You Are- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Disability (STD/LTD), Absence Management, Paid State Plans, and statutory disability programs required.
- CLMS designation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and project‑management skills.
- Works effectively in a cross‑functional, fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially with Excel.
- Able to analyze and interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
- Some minimal travel may be required.
