The Opportunity
The Director, Strategic Sourcing, leads the category sourcing strategy for Chartwell as well as spend analysis, sourcing event strategy [JB1] , performance reporting and new product innovation.

Key Accountabilities
Strategic Sourcing & Market Intelligence

Develop supply market expertise in assigned spend areas, including trends, innovation, and risk management.

Formulate sourcing strategies to optimize quality and cost.

Select appropriate procurement methods (e.g., RFQ, RFP, targeted negotiation).

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Alignment

Collaborate with business unit leaders to understand requirements and promote a savings-focused mindset.

Deliver procurement activities that align with business expectations and resident satisfaction [JB2] to achieve high customer satisfaction.

Supplier & Risk Management

Monitor and anticipate supplier risks that may impact supply, cost, or quality.

Ensure procurement processes support consistent quality standards.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Manage the new product innovation pipeline to support business growth and efficiency.

Performance Measurement & Reporting

Develop, track and report key supply chain metrics including savings analysis in a timely manner.

Team Leadership

Lead and develop a team of direct reports to achieve departmental goals.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.

Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent business credentials (e.g., CSCMP or similar accreditation) is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of direct experience managing sourcing activities in a large, multi-site service organization, ideally within healthcare or hospitality.

Proven experience leading a team of sourcing professionals.

Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong leadership capabilities that can support and develop the category sourcing team

Strong advocacy to elevate the role of sourcing within the organization.

Deep expertise in procurement, cost analysis, and sourcing strategy.

Proven ability to drive cost reduction, improve quality, and streamline supply chain operations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.

Clear and persuasive communication skills—both written and verbal—across diverse settings.

Skilled negotiator with a collaborative and diplomatic approach to conflict resolution.

High personal integrity, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.

Self-motivated, results-driven, and committed to achieving quality outcomes.

Ability to earn trust and credibility through respectful and knowledgeable engagement.

Comfortable working in both strategic and hands‑on capacities.

High aptitude with constructing and negotiating contract commercial terms

Familiarity with contract legal terms is considered an asset

Experience with procurement systems and data analytics & reporting is considered an asset.

Effort:

Work requires a high level of strategic thinking, analysis, and decision-making, often under tight deadlines.

Frequent attention to complex data, contracts, and vendor negotiations.

Standard office activities include extended computer use, meetings, and virtual collaboration.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a hybrid environment with a mix of office and remote work.

Occasional travel to properties, suppliers, and industry events may be required.
