Summary
The Employee Benefits Sr. Account Executive I is responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with key business clients. This role is critical in the development and deployment of our clients Employee Benefits Health and Welfare strategy. Needs to have a firm understanding of medical loss ratios, and key metrics that drive plan performance. Manages, coordinates and negotiates renewal pricing, review program outcomes and make recommendations for optimal performance.
Provides direction and guidance to account support staff ensuring deliverables and outcomes are in alignment with the defined client strategy. Must be self-sufficient, detail oriented, success-driven, exceptional team collaborators with outstanding communication skills. This position is pivotal in maintaining and growing relationships within multiple levels of the organization and supporting Optimal Customer Relationships (OCR). The ability to manage independently a large client book of business consisting of complex self-funded, level-funded and fully insured customers in collaboration with consultants and other team members is imperative to this role’s success.
Travel with an occasional overnight stay will be required.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking and innovation based on knowledge of the market, carriers and products, including key features of stop loss, pharmacy benefit managers (PBM), self-funding mechanisms, and ancillary products.
- Set priorities and manage analytical workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate creation of deliverables.
- Above average degree of self-motivation and self-direction.
- Excellent time management, highly organized with exceptional written & verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide creative problem resolution and familiarity with managing complex issues.
- Provide guidance on State and Federal compliance regulations.
- Keep informed of industry trends, marketplace opportunities and changes in legislation and technology to continually improve knowledge and performance.
- Act as role model and mentor to other colleagues.

- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years Employee Benefits brokerage experience working with insurance carriers with increasing responsibility
- Experience with Electronic Data Transfer (EDI) feeds and benefit administration systems
- Expert knowledge of self-funding, fully insured, level funded and captive structures
- Understand the wide array of medical, ancillary, wellness, worksite, stop loss, Third Party Administrator (TPA) and PBM insurance products
- Claims experience is beneficial, but not required
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
- Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Excel, PowerPoint & Word
