Policy Associate
The Policy & Strategy Associate is responsible for assisting in the development of East Point’s policy priorities across various markets, spearheading tracking and monitoring of those priorities, and advocating, where appropriate, with public officials, regulatory agencies, and trade organizations. This role will particularly focus on ISO/RTO and state policy, with an emphasis on PJM and ERCOT markets. The role reports directly to the Director of Policy, Strategy, & External Affairs.
Responsibilities- Coordinate, monitor, and advocate for East Point’s energy storage policy goals in core markets.
- Synthesize and coordinate policy feedback from multiple East Point business functions: project development, business development, EPC, asset management, and accounting teams.
- Assess the business impact of state and market (ISO/RTO) policies and develop/implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Consolidate and clearly communicate East Point’s policy priorities, and the business impacts of those priorities, to East Point leadership and Equinor stakeholders.
- Lead East Point’s external policy engagement with industry peers and groups, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.
- Draft legislative and regulatory comments, testimony, and/or public-facing statements positioning East Point as a leader in the energy storage space.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
- 4-year university degree, BS or BA.
- 2+ years of energy industry experience, preferably in regulatory/market policy.
- Strong understanding of ISO/RTO driven interconnection and market structures for battery storage.
- Experience identifying and mitigating state and market regulatory risks for battery storage projects.
- Working knowledge of general FERC interconnection process and specific regulatory requirements for ISO/RTOs.
- Experience participating in RTO/ISO stakeholder meetings.
- Working knowledge of state legislative process and energy policy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc. and Salesforce.
- Ability to communicate across a broad spectrum of technical understanding - written, verbal, and non-verbal.
- Public speaking experience.

- This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times.

East Point Energy office in Charlottesville, VA preferred. We are potentially open to hybrid or remote work candidates who are willing to travel often to the East Point Energy offices.
