Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Position Summary
As Director of Regulated Waste Compliance, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to minimize the environmental compliance impacts tied to regulated waste including Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste and Bottle Redemption. You will work cross functionally with operations, field compliance and home office subject matter experts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental compliance including California regulated waste management, program design, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Whatyou’ll do
- Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures for regulated waste with a primary focus in California.
- Build monitoring programs to measure effectiveness of regulated waste programs and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop right‑sized control measures.
- Analyze data, environmental metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and maintain positive relationships.
- Utilize subject matter expertise in environmental health and safety (EHS) to develop creative solutions to environmental related opportunities.
- Subject matter expertise in hazardous waste, solid waste recycling compliance or related environmental regulations.
- A risk management‑related mindset that balances business needs, urgency, and environmental compliance priorities.
- Experience in multi‑facility compliance program development.
- Strong communication skills and experience navigating difficult issues.
- Experience working in cross‑functional teams.
- The ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management practices that enable you to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The annual salary range for this position is $ - $. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

- 5 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area.
- 3 years’ supervisory experience.
- 4 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.
